THE VENUE ... IN THE COMMUNITY
The Venue is one of the leading live music venues in the country, film location, television studio and much sought after entertainment space. Long long before all of this the building was the centre of Worthing and the centre of the community. The Venue was created for the people of Worthing and surrounding areas, providing them with a dedicted live music venue equal to those in London and capable of attracting the well known artistes and bands that they would otherwise have to travel to go and see. But it doesn't stop there, The Venue ... In The Community is an initiative to further bring the community together in a variety of new and exciting ways.
The Venue ... In The Community has already proved to be very popular and hugely successful. The initiative provides a number of days each year to free and partially funded space to a number of local organisations working with The Venue and the events team. Free space has been provided to allow the Christmas and Easter Wonderland Markets to take place to showcase the amazing food and craft makers of Worthing. The Worthing Portrait Artist of the Year competition continues to grow showcasing the talented artists of Worthing and is now a much anticipated date in the Sussex Arts Calendar. The Creative Collaborations project brings together the schools from all over Worthing to perform on the big venue stage. The Bright Little Buttons Disco, Rhythm and Melody Theatre Company and many many more.
The Venue ... In The Community also helps local charities and community groups to put on fundraising events offering professional support and direction and greatly reduced venue rates to help them.
The Venue ... In The Community helps and supports local promoters and event organisers with discounted venue rates. It showcases local bands and artistes giving them the chance to play on a professional stage, and reaches out to the wider community by allowing a number of days each year for local people to celebrate birthdays and special occassions.
The Venue ... In The Community supports local businesses in hosting their staff parties, launches and networking events. The Venue recently supported the Connaught Theatre and Worthing Musical Society in providing free space for the cast of Joseph.
The Venue ... In The Community provides the space several times a year for a wresting event for those in residential and care homes to have an enjoyable evening out. The Venue supports local schools with work experience placement for those interested in working in the events industry.
The Venue ... In The Community recently worked with WBC and Time for Worthing to help, assist and support the new Worthing Festival. This included providing a themed venue for the festival Press and Media launch party, provided free by The Venue, not funded by the council, and creating a number of special events just for the festival week at reduced hire rates. The Venue will continue to work with Time for Worthing in supporting the community for a Better Way Of Life ...
